10 fundraising ideas for the arts

The arts have a long history of supporting nonprofit organizations. Artistic showcases can be easily converted into fundraising campaigns that any nonprofit can do. In order to help get those creative juices flowing for your nonprofit, we’ve come up with 10 easy-to-do fundraising events implementing the arts.

10 fundraising ideas for the arts that your organization can try

1. Fashion show – This one’s popular in high schools. Host a fashion show and accept donations to your organization’s online fundraising page as an admissions fee to the event. Here’s an example of the Ronald McDonald House doing just this.

2. Art Show – Host an art show and accept online donations as an admissions fee.

3. Indie film fundraiser – Think art show meets Sundance film festival. Bring together the community’s indie filmmakers for a night of fundraising!

4. Theatre night – Most school districts have some sort of theatre program. Sponsor an encore show of a school’s yearly production and use the proceeds as donations. Factor in those donations with our offline donations tool and securely transfer them to your organization.

5. Cabaret night – Cabaret nights are also popular with the theatre kids. Host a fundraising event one night after school and let the proceeds go to your cause.

6. Karaoke night fundraiser – Who doesn’t love karaoke? Either partner with an establishment, like a bar, who already hosts a karaoke night or create your own at a local community center. Take online donations as admissions fee and you’ll be ready to rock!

7. Carol Singing – This one’s a little more traditional. Grab a group of carolers over the winter holiday season and go door-to-door bringing cheer through song. With the offline donations you receive, factor them after each round of singing and chart your progress.

8. Valentines/Sweetheart Singing – This is the same concept as above but during Valentine’s Day! As a suggested fee of $5, take donations for personalized song requests.

9. Dance lessons – The next two follow a “lesson-voucher-per-donations” model. Partner up with a local dance company, open up an online fundraising page and accept suggested donations for $50.Those who donate can get a personal, one-on-one dance lesson and will benefit your cause.

10. Acting lessons – If dancing isn’t your thing, maybe acting is! Reach out to the adult community theatre group and see what you can conjure up.
