Menu for Hope

We are a bit star-struck by Pim Techamuanvivit, a well-known and prolific food writer.  She has run afundraising campaign for the past 4 years by creating and online fundraising page and posting about it with a link in her blog, outdoing herself regarding her fundraising goals and results each time.  We’re impressed with her motivations, her creativity and her planning and execution; she has created a page for a different world relief program each time and raised, cumulatively, over $80,000 for her causes.  The past two years were incredibly successful; her campaign in December 2006 alone raised over $60k in just 3 weeks.  Which is why we’re also in admiration of her readers who not only participated in the campaign but bolstered this success by telling their own friends and readers about Pim’s page by posting about it online.

A few things we find interesting about what she’s doing (not enough room to go on and on about how fantastic she is):

  • The 2005 and 2006 campaigns were structured as raffles for prized donated by her food community; donors made an online contribution and named the prize they were interested in as their comment.
  • Pim’s primary outlet for letting people know about her campaign was a post in her blog linking to the page.
  • She has created fundraising pages for different organizations each year; so nice for us to see that the flexibility that we strive so hard toward with our pages is useful.

Hats off, kudos, deep curtsey to Pim…
