Olympic Inspiration

Last week we highlighted Olympic marathoner Ryan Hall’s fundraising page for World Vision on the Team Firstgiving Blog.  (By the way, Hall finished 10th in Beijing, helping the U.S. team to its best finish in 32 years).

At Firstgiving, we know that endurance sports events have extraordinary power to inspire, especially when athletes are also fundraising for great causes.  Ryan’s racing and fundraising have recently inspired a group of Chicago marathoners to join Hall as part of Team World Vision.

One of these athletes is Carol Dakai.  After an injury which left her unable to compete in Boston earlier this year, Carol is back on track to run through the windy city on October 12, her fourth marathon.  She’s set up a fundraising page for Team World Vision, and donations to her page will fund a clean water project in Zambia.

Go Carol!  Kudos for carrying the torch of inspiration!

  1. I strongly request that you permit donations to be made to Firstgiving by PayPay. This will allow those of us who do not have credit cards or who do now wish to use credit cards for donations.

    Thank you.

  2. Hi Fred,

Thanks for your comment. Online donations to fundraising pages can be made with any major credit card directly through our site.

If you prefer to make an offline donation, please contact the fundraiser first. They may prefer to have checks sent directly to them, so that they can track donations. Also, they might need to write certain information (e.g. their name or the event name) in the memo line.
