Politicians and fundraising

a9a0fbcb-5178-49cc-97ac-cb9069cb1295It probably comes as no surprise but, politicians really are some of the best fundraisers out there.  They have a lot of experience in rallying people around a cause, and they also keep these people involved throughout the campaign. FirstGiving doesn’t do political fundraising but…..

Yousef Al Otaiba is the current United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States and Mexico.  He has generated a lot of buzz on FirstGiving, not for his ties with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, but for his fundraising page for Children’s National Medical Center(CNMC).  CNMC’s, Be Brave and Shave campagin invites people to fundraise and shave their heads to show support for children who lose their hair while undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.  Ambassador Al Otaiba page has already surpassed his goal of $100,000 and is about to break $200,000.  He has offered to match whatever donations come in on his FirstGiving page.  Ambassador Al Otailba is championing post event fundraising opportunities by collecting donations until December 7, even though the event already happened on November 15, 2009, and Yousef has little hair to shave.

Some of Ambassador Al Otaiba’s political friends who have all donated to his FirstGiving’s fundraising page include : Dina Powell, Todd Platt, Toni G. Verstandig, Mario Morino, Denise Rich, Joseph E. Robert, Lorraine Schwartz and Colin Powell.

Great work Ambassador Al Otaiba, it is truly inspiring to us all.
