Our friends at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) are getting the ball rolling early for their annual fundraising walk. Last year they exceeded their goals, thanks to their committed support community, and this year, they are setting the bar even higher.
The folks at BARCC know that setting the right expectations and good communication to their supporters can make a big difference when it comes to fundraising success. They’ve done a great job of sending out early registration information and publicizing their 2010 goals. Take a look at what they included in an email sent out to last year’s walkers:
Because the word is out, supporters like Meg McDermott are already busy setting up FirstGiving pages and raising money online for the event.
So, to recap: Grow your fundraising event. Show the supporters in your community how they can participate in reaching your event goals, and invite them to join in.
Happy fundraising!

This is a great idea but I am finding it hard to explain to organizations that they really need to do that. Last night I spoke to one gentlemen and tried to advise him that this is something the donors and supporters need to see and his response was 1) he didn’t have time 2) he thinks for an organization that is 7 years old he is doing pretty good 3) I am free to help them update thier site
. I am trying to identify what the fear factor is so I can address it properly any suggestions?
