4 creative ways to personally thank your nonprofit supporters

We’re sure you’re actively thanking your fundraisers and donors. But let’s get a little creative shall we? Here are 4 creative ways to personally thank your nonprofit supporters. Before we start, did you know that with FirstGiving you’re able to automatically send email thank you’s once a donation is made? It’s a good first step but don’t stop there!

1. Personalized video

We cannot stress the impact video has had on nonprofit engagement. Not only are they effective for marketing and cause awareness, they’re fantastic for thank you’s. Charity:Water put out a great series of personalized thank you videos for their 5 year anniversary thanking all the donors who had supported them that year. See for yourself and learn how your nonprofit could leverage personalized videos to give thanks.

2. Handwritten letters

These days, nothing stands out more than a personalized, handwritten letter. After featuring Movember in a blog post, we received this great handwritten letter. It made us feel special and we’re sure your supporters would feel the same.  If you don’t have the manpower to thank everyone personally, pick your top fundraisers and donors and write them a personal thank you letter.

2. Customized email

From the design to the content, make your thank you emails unique. Email platforms like MailChimp are easy to use and fully customizable. Create a simple design for your thank you emails by including the person’s first name, how much they donated or raised, and (if possible) what their donation is going towards. Will their donation help with the building of a school or feeding a small village? This helps supporters visual how they’re helping your cause.

4. Social Media shout outs

Social media shout outs are easy to do, personal, and an effective way to say thank you. Simply tag one of your nonprofit supporters in a Facebook post or tweet to communicate your gratitude. Check out how Walk For Cure is personally thanking Team Kelly and Bonnie for their hard work!
