A Post Event Online Fundraising Idea
Jim Littlefield of the Cerebral Palsy K.I.D.S. Center in Louisville, Kentucky shared his online fundraising success story from last weekend with us. The Walk & Roll for Kids took place on March 21, 2011 in Louisville, where 320 online fundraisers raised $74,125, which doesn’t include over $80,000 raised by cash, check, and corporate giving. Now Jim is looking to the future with a post event fundraising drive to gain even more support for his organization.
Here’s a little background about the organization:
“We’ve been helping children with all kinds of disabilities since 1959. Today we are the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies – formerly known as the Cerebral Palsy K.I.D.S. Center. We see children with autism, Down Syndrome, Spina bifda, cerebral palsy, ADD, ADHD, sensor issues, and many other types of delays.”
Jim shared a great example of a post event email that he sent out to his supporters that shows just how easy it is to keep the momentum going. He encouraged us to share the tip with the FirstGiving community. Let us know if you’ve had success with post-event campaigns as well.

Dear friends,
I want to thank you for all of your support as I’ve been raising money to help children with special needs through the Walk & Roll for Kids. The walk happened last Saturday, but our fundraising drive continues through this week. Thanks to you so far I have raised [insert amount] and am [insert percent] of my goal. These funds help the Kids Center stay true to their vow to never turn a child away.
But it’s not too late to help a few more kids. If you’ve gotten my past emails and have intended to give – but just got busy -there is still time. Check out the photos below – these are the kids you’re helping. Cut and paste this address into your browser and you’ll see why this cause matters:

Wow, that is a great idea to help raise more funds after the event. I love the post and may use it next time I am leading a charity event. Great advice!

What a great way to continue fundraising efforts after an event. Fundraising doesn’t stop at the finish line of a race, and Jim’s email shows exactly how organizations can keep their momentum going.
