Football Rivals Put Aside Differences for Online Fundraising
We came across an absolutely amazing story this week. Jeremy and Christy’s son Jackson has Autism, and they wanted him to have the opportunity to work with a service dog. They found a non-profit organization called Autism Service Dogs of America, which trains and places service dogs with autistic children.
Jeremy and Christy set up a personal fundraising page on Firstgiving, sharing their story and asking people to donate. You can read it here.
A family friend and FSU fan had been posting comments at rivals.com, a college football fan site. Last week he mentioned Jackson’s story on the site, with a link to the fundraising page. He donated $100 and invited both his friends and adversaries to join the cause by donating as well.
The response was overwhelming. Football fans momentarily put aside their differences and started donating. They quickly surpassed their original goal of $2000. In fact, in less than a week, Jeremy and Christy have raised over $14,500, enough to fund Jackson’s service dog.
We are thrilled by your success!

Service dogs are an absolutely integral part of the support network of many disabled or disadvantaged persons, including veterans…paws4people is a Loudoun, VA-based charitable foundation dedicated to raising and training service dogs for many uses. P4P also runs a nonprofit fundraising service for any nonprofit wishing to join its consortium, collectively raising money through social-media enhanced online charity raffles. This is a great service that ANY nonprofit can take advantage of.
