Fundraising for Musicians: Write a new song

Write a new song for a good cause. Not only will the song raise more awareness for your chosen nonprofit, the proceeds can be donated as well.

Dust off your songbook

As a songwriter, consider writing a song for a cause you care deeply about. Just think, every time you perform this song, you can plug the nonprofit and the fantastic work they do. However, don’t stop there. Be sure to also record the song in one fashion or another. Every download or physical purchase of the song can contribute to the nonprofit of choice. Simply donate the proceeds through an online fundraising page.

Be generous with your song

If you are feeling extra generous, allow the nonprofit to use your song any way they’d like. They could use the music in their next promo video, in a blog post, in featured presentations, you name it! Give them a new promotional tool and share your talent with a whole new audience.

Share your new song through your fundraising page

Once your new song is recorded, ask you friends, family and fans to donate to your fundraising page and send them an exclusive download of the song in an automated thank you email.

Make sure to include a link of a song preview or video on your fundraising page. Just like Rachel Carrick did when she was fundraising for Tornado Relief.
