Here’s how to create a great fundraising campaign for your birthday or another event:

1. Make your FirstGiving page. Select a nonprofit and customize your page with photos, your story, and a goal. Kate’s page is a great example.

2. Ask for a specific donation related to your cause or event. Since Kate was celebrating her 32nd birthday, she asked for $32 donations.

3. Get the word out! Send an email to your friends, family and coworkers with the link to your page. Add your page URL to your email signature until your event date. Post your page to your Facebook profile, and tweet it, too.
