If Music Be the Food of Love, Then Play On
I love the idea of using your talent and passion in efforts to make a difference. That is exactly what Tommy Knox is doing with his gift to play the guitar. In efforts to save the environment, protect endangered species and help needy children he is offering to dedicate any song, of your choice, to those who donate $10 or more to one his fundraising pages. He has two separate firstgiving.com pages for two difference charities; World Wildlife Fund and Children’s Hunger Fund. He then posts your song of choice on youtube.com. Check out his latest dedication to Cody—Tommy’s rendition of Three Doors Down, “Here Without You.”
I have been quite impressed with the eclectic charity fundraising ideas I’ve come across here at firstgiving.com. We usually like to blog, digg and tweet about them. Several of my favorite creative firstgiving.com pages that we’ve noted were reallocating birthday and wedding gifts towards a cause or charity, the gift of Symmetry and Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Obviously the ideas do not have to be completely new or original; it can be an old idea spruced up like Alex’ Lemonade Stand. But I have noticed that with a little bit of marketing through social media networks and a clever fundraising idea, you can raise a lot of funds and awareness for any cause you care about. Great idea Tommy! Rock on buddy, rock on.
