March is National Kidney Month

March is National Kidney Month. According to the National Kidney Foundation, 1 in 9 Americans (26 million people) have Chronic Kidney Disease and millions of others have an increased risk of developing it because of high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of kidney disease. This is a worthy cause to raise awareness for.

Did you know? Using FirstGiving, 63 nonprofits have raised over $2.8 million for this cause since 2003.

Here are a few other quick stats on FirstGiving and Kidney Awareness:

  • In 2012, nonprofits using FirstGiving raised over $260,000
  • We processed close to  5,000 donations for kidney awareness
  • There’s been a total of 56,188 donations surrounding this cause since 2003
  • The average dollar amount per donation for this cause is  $50.08
