Meet the FirstGiving Team at Run Walk Ride, NTC, SXSW, InnoGive, and AFP

We are on the road in March, and looking forward to meeting YOU. FirstGiving staff will be attending five conferences in March and speaking at two of them:  Run Walk Ride, the Nonprofit Technology Conference, South By Southwest Interactive, InnoGive 2011, and the Association for Fundraising Professionals. We want to meet you and hear about what you are doing, your thoughts on online fundraising, and your ideas for FirstGiving. What’s more, you could also get some very cool FirstGiving stuff when you meet us.

Run Walk Ride

Today and tomorrow, March 1 and 2, Andrew Urban (Head of Sales and Business Development) will be attending the Run Walk Ride Council’s annual conference in Atlanta. Andrew will be presenting highlights from our Marathon Fundraising Success Report, which studied 907  Boston Marathon 2010 fundraiser and donor behavior. We also have a booth at the conference, so please stop by and say “hello.”

South By Southwest Interactive (SXSWi)

March 11 – 15, Debra Askanase (that’s me, Community Engagement Manager) and Andrew Urban will be attending South By Southwest Interactive in Austin, Texas. We’ll be sponsoring lunch on Saturday, March 12, in The Beacon Lounge, where we love to hang out during SXSWi. We’re also giving away very cool t-shirts to the first 50 people to create a free FirstGiving fundraising page during SXSWi We’ve also cooked up another activity in The Beacon Lounge that asks you to creatively think about what you would write on a t-shirt. I’ll be stopping by the lounge every day, and will most certainly be carrying around a bunch of t-shirts, so please introduce yourself to me if you’re at SXSWi.

InnoGive 2011 Conference

March 16, Chris Dumas (Product Manager) will be attending the InnoGive 2011 Conference, the mobile giving conference. This one-day conference is the day before the Nonprofit Technology Conference, and lucky for us they are both in Washington, D.C. If you’ll be at InnoGive, Chris would love to meet you.

Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC)

March 17 – 19, Chris and I will be at the Nonprofit Technology Network’s annual conference, the NTC. We’re pretty excited to have been selected to present three sessions to our colleagues. I’ll be co-leading two sessions:

  • The Social Website: Integrating Social Media Into Website Design and Function. Along with Seth Giammanco from Minds on Design Lab, we will offer an interactive session on how to integrate social media activities into core website function. We’ll also facilitate breakout groups who will develop a social website plan based around a goals scenario.
  • Social Media and Contact Relationship Management: The New Mix. Along with Steve Backman of Database Designs, Judy Sohn of the Colorectal Cancer Coalition, and Laura Quinn of Idealware, we will hold an interactive discussion of this emerging area of CRM, along with case studies. We’ll also try to peer into the future of social CRM to see where it is heading.

In additon, Chris Dumas will be presenting this session:

  • Don’t worry, be h-API: A Gentle Introduction to APIs for Nonprofit Folk. The session will define an API, review existing APIs that can help you raise money, think about building an API, and how to use APIs in conjunction with social media.

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)

March 20 – 22, Andrew Urban, Lee Johnson (Sales Consultant) and Lucas van Gambos (Account Manager) will be attending the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ annual conference in Chicago, Illinois. Not only will we be attending to learn about the latest in fundraising, but we’ll be staffing booth 603 at the trade show. While you’re there, check into Booth 603 on FourSquare to claim a special offer.

Will you be there? Let us know!
