Nonprofit Spotlight: CURE Childhood Cancer
Each month we highlight a couple of our nonprofit partners who have unique fundraising events, great success stories, or something else fantastic going on that we’d like to tell you about. Next up in our nonprofit fundraising series, the nonprofit spotlight, is Cure Childhood Cancer , and their CURE’s Kids Conquer Cancer One Day at a Time campaign.
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and our friends at Cure Childhood Cancer have taken on the challenge of raising $1,000 each day in September. They call their crusade “CURE’s Kids Conquer Cancer One Day at a Time” because they are literally raising money and awareness one day at a time. Every day, Cure honors a child in their community with their own personal fundraising page. Hayley Hunter, a nine year old who has battled neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer, is spotlighted today. After a several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and stem cell transplants, Hayley is cancer free.
Only 2% of federal funding is currently designated for cancer research that affects children. CURE seeks to meet the shortfall in an empowering way: they exist to conquer childhood cancer. As long as children are stricken with cancer, they will be there raising awareness, supporting families, funding private research and doing everything they can to prevent children from suffering.
Although CURE has set a monthly fundraising goal of $30,000, it looks like they may need a new goal: as of today, they have already raised over $56,000!
Kudos to CURE Childhood Cancer for this unique and inspiring campaign!
