Nonprofit Spotlight: Garden of Dreams Foundation

NPOspotlight

Each month, we highlight a couple of our nonprofit partners who have unique fundraising events, great success stories, or something else fantastic going on that we’d like to tell you about. Next up in our nonprofit spotlight fundraising series, is Garden of Dreams Foundation (GDF).

37,000  runners will be crossing  the Brooklyn Bridge and running the 26.2 miles of the New York City Marathon this weekend.  Of those 37,000 runners, Garden of Dreams Foundation has 22 runners putting their feet to the payment through all five boroughs in support of GDF.  Garden of Dreams Foundation was created in 2006 to make dreams come true for kids in crisis.GDF works closely with Madison Square Garden to create a once in a lifetime experience for over 134,000 children in the tri-state area.

So far the Garden of Dreams Foundation NYC marathon team have raised a total of almost $44,000.  The marathon is still 3 days away and we are confident that the team can reach $50,000.  Tina Cervasio, a reporter for the Madison Square Garden network, is on of the GDF marathon team members.  This is hersecond year running and raising money online.  In addition to setting a new personal record she has set a fundraising goal of $8,000.  Tina is a proud supporter of Garden of Dreams Foundation and had this to say about her experience with the foundation:

“I have witnessed the smiles and joy of these children and their families when they visit Madison Square Garden to attend games, events, meet athletes and celebrities that they once only dreamed about. I believe strongly in Garden of Dreams’ impact on people’s lives.”  Tina Cervasio, firstgiving.com/tinacervasio1
