Want to Bring the Giving Back? Here are a few ways to spread the word
At FirstGiving, we’re committed to Bring(ing) the Giving Back to the holidays. We’ve been to enough holiday parties, and family holiday dinners, where the exchange of gifts has devolved to an exchange of credit in the form of gift cards. One member of our staff even exchanged a gift card for the exact same amount from the exact same store with another family member last year. That exchange inspired our Bring the Giving Back challenge: donate your giving this holiday season a cause and not a retail outlet. We want to create real change instead of change for retailers.
It’s pretty simple to get started: Just go to the Bring the Giving Back event page and press the “get started” button. If you want to donate to a cause instead of ask others to donate to yours, you can do that from the same Bring the Giving Back event page: press the “donate to a cause” button. We’re tracking all of the great giving and fundraising here, and we’ll announce winners of the donation challenges on our Facebook Page.
What can you do to promote the challenge? Here are a few ideas:
1. Tweet about Bring the Giving Back using the hashtag #Give40. Here’s an example tweet: Does a piece of plastic give your holidays meaning? Join the Bring the Giving Back Challenge! #Give40 http://bit.ly/aXj0ve.
2. Spread the word on Facebook: Share the Bring the Giving Back event on Facebook. Tag five friends on Facebook and ask them to do the same!
3. Favorite the video on YouTube and share it on Facebook. The more people that see the video, and learn about the challenge, the bigger the impact.
4. Write a blog post about the challenge, or your experience participating in the challenge. Link to the challenge and let us know about it; we’ll also re-post it on our blog.
5. Ask five friends to start their own fundraising page as part of this challenge.
5. Join our fundraising Google group, where challenge participants are supporting each other. To join, complete this form.
What else will you do to Bring the Giving Back?
